The brief was simple. Make people feel something before they've even packed a bag.
Laik isn't really in the holiday letting business. Not if you squint at it properly. What they're actually selling is the feeling of waking up somewhere that slows you down — the particular quality of light over Windermere in the morning, the kind of quiet you can't manufacture anywhere else.
They knew that. They just needed someone to show it.
The brief came in clean and confident, which is always a good sign. No lengthy documents, no mood boards pulled from a dozen different directions. Just a clear sense of what they wanted people to feel when they landed on the site — and the trust to let us figure out how to get there.
We shot the Lake District the way it deserves to be shot. Unhurried. Close to the ground. Waiting for the light rather than fighting it. The video that opens their website isn't selling rooms or rates. It's selling a feeling — the particular stillness of this place, the reason people keep coming back to it year after year.
The best content doesn't shout. It makes someone stop, feel something, and quietly decide. A person lands on the Laik website, watches thirty seconds of the Lake District doing what it does, and somewhere in the back of their mind a decision is already being made. That's what it's supposed to do.
